Stuff You Didn’t Know About Craig Passero’s Lotek Section.

Charlie put this up on BMXFU and it reminded me of how amazing it is. I was there for most of this section so I figured I’d put together some random memories that you might find interesting:

-At 21 seconds he 180 bars over the ledge and into the street at Austin’s famed 45th street ditch (which I hear is now gone). My good friend and former pro BMXer, Byron Anderson was there when we filmed this. Craig did it a couple times because he didn’t like his rollback and Byron remarked to me that he never did a trick more than once back in the day. It’s crazy that dudes like Craig are so good that they’ll do something big like that over and over to get it just right.

-At 26 seconds he does a huge feeble to hard 180 table. This spot is right outside a Bank Of America, which just so happens to be my bank. I wasn’t there when Craig filmed this clip, but I went into the bank a couple days later to wire some money to someone and the guy who was assigned to help me was so annoying. He seriously wouldn’t shut up, asking me about every detail of my life. I told him I ride BMX and he said “oh that’s great, we had a couple of guys jumping off that ledge out front a few days ago. We would normally kick them out but it was almost closing time so we didn’t say anything”.

-The slam he takes at 49 seconds is bad. He was trying to do a feeble to quick manual 180 down the rail. How sick would that have been? The funny part is that by pure coincidence, the Almond team happened to be staying at the hotel where that rail is, so in the middle of trying the clip, all of a sudden Ben Hucke, Jared Washington and Shane Weston were there watching. I always thought it was weird that those dudes didn’t film anything on the rail, it’s seriously one of the lowest, widest rails ever.

-The 720 at 53 seconds was a clip we forgot to put in Football.

-There’s an awesome story about the feeble hard 180 bar and feeble hard 3 he does up the Aaron Ross ledge at the end, but you’ll have to ask me in person because it’s incredibly inappropriate for the internet.
